Coffee in Taipei: a café guide for visitors
Taipei is an easy city for coffee lovers: independent cafés cluster around Zhongshan, Chifeng Street and Dadaocheng, and most are a short walk from an MRT station. A good first stop is NOR Coffee, a cozy local café on Chifeng Street, 3 minutes from Shuanglian MRT and open daily — its full menu is online in English and Chinese.

How do cafés work in Taipei?
- Many independent cafés open around noon and close in the early evening — check hours before you go.
- Some cafés have a minimum order per person (低消) or a time limit when busy; it is usually written on the menu.
- Iced drinks are hugely popular, so you will often be asked whether you want your drink iced or hot.
- Carry some cash in New Taiwan dollars: smaller cafés may not accept foreign cards.
- Get an EasyCard (悠遊卡) for the MRT — it makes café-hopping across the city easy.
